The Stetson Mansion near Orlando: A Central Florida Must See!

Have you heard of the Stetson Mansion?  Well we had not.  We didn’t even know who Mr. Stetson was.  It was all revealed during a visit to Central Florida that we discovered it all.

Stetson Mansion, DeLand, FL, 2011

So, who was Mr. Stetson? John B. Stetson was one of 12 children of Stephen and Susan Balderson Stetson. He was born in 1830 in Orange, New Jersey. His father was a hatter and John left school early to learn the hatter’s trade.  His business started with a hat repair shop, but his talent let to manufacturing hats, and from there nothing but success!

And what about the Mansion?  Well, TripAdvisor announced that the Stetson Mansion tops Disney for “Most Popular Attraction!”.  So, it is a must see if you are in the area.

The mansion was constructed in the 19th century, and it is filled with opulence, luxury and details from then and now.  From today you will find a fabulous kitchen decked out with Viking luxury appliances ready to use for any event.  Oh yes, the mansion is available to host all types of events, and it has the right space for them.  Need an outdoor space? How about the pool area that sits right next to a golf mound for some practice or contest.  Want an outdoor space that is covered? No worries, the ample and inviting porch will do just fine.

Thinking of a wedding?  The house itself is a marvelous backdrop, but there are plenty of spaces to choose from for the ceremony.  Brides can walk down from the special staircase which King George VI from England used during his stay at the home.  Brides can also make use of the renovated and functional cottage in the back of the house to get ready and settle the nervous jitters.

The living room features a grand piano that can be set to play or guests can entertain with.

If you are looking for historical pieces they can be found throughout the home.  Take for example the breaker box made and installed by Mr. Thomas Edison himself. His handwriting is still legible on the tags!
