Disney’s Polynesian Villas & Bungalows celebrate #Moana
Disclosure: Received an invite to attend the Moana media event at Disney’s Polynesian Villas & Bungalows to facilitate this review; however opinions are 100% mine.
Disney’s Moana is in theaters everywhere today, and to celebrate the release, I was recently able to take part in the Disney’s Moana Under the Stars Meet Up. This event focused on the newest animated feature from Disney, Moana, and featured a private dinner with Moana screenwriter, Jared Bush. It was an absolutely amazing experience. How could it not be? Disney, people. Disney!
A Unique Experience with Disney’s Moana
This Under the Stars Meet Up was a special event in my opinion. If you’ve followed my blog or seen any commercials on the movie, you know it takes place in a world heavily based on Hawaii and Polynesian culture, which means the entire film is full of surf, sand, lush greenery, and high seas adventure.
Before the screening, we enjoyed a private, buffet style dinner. Boy was it delicious! The food was wonderful. They really did it right with amazing flavors and a wonderful, intimate atmosphere. After the meal, it was off to the screening and to visit the newly bungalows!
New Bungalows to Match the Magic of Disney’s Moana
In addition to the amazing movie, our seating offered us a great view of Disney’s Polynesian Villas & Bungalows. So get ready to be transported to a tropical haven.
Polynesian Villas & Bungalows recently added by Disney to reflect the magic of their Polynesian masterpiece animated film. Not only are they beautiful, they perfectly capture the tropical feel of the film. The villas & bungalows are situated near the gorgeous, white sand shore of Seven Seas Lagoon, and they’re perfectly placed for quick access to the park. They’re only a monorail ride away from the Magic Kingdom Park!

The Polynesian Villas & Bungalows feature authentic South Pacific styling with all the whimsical Disney feel and magic that we’ve come to expect from the Happiest Place on Earth. A large Tiki statue sits atop a lava rock water feature, welcoming guests as they enter the Great Ceremonial House (the lobby). Other welcoming features include a fantastic chandelier inspired by Polynesian native navigational instruments, bamboo finishes, and glass globes.
This gorgeous resort inspired by Disney’s Moana features Deluxe Studios and the Bungalows with all the amenities of home including a living room, full kitchen, master bedroom and bathroom, second bedroom and bathroom with an in-mirror TV, private deck and even a plunge pool! What the What? If that wasn’t enough, all guests have access to activities like pools, a marina, fishing, movies under the stars, and more, as well as a wide selection of 9 restaurants and available private dining. Activities sure to delight families with children of all age like character dining at ‘Ohana, luau dinner show, evening campfires and movies on the beach, and views of the nightly fireworks and Electrical Water Pageant!
It’s screening time! Jared Bush spoke for a bit about the film, and to capture that feel, the Disney’s Moana Under the Stars event had us viewing the film under the stars (obviously) BUT with a twist. We were actually on a beach! It was about 48 degrees, so it was COLD out there, but I think that actually added to the fun. They gave us all towels to help take the chill off, so it ended up being a quite cozy viewing experience. I’d much rather be too cool than overly hot, so it worked out perfectly for me!
The movie was everything the commercials show it to be and more. The Rock did an outstanding job, as did newcomer, Auli’i Cravalho. The rest of the cast was exceptional as well, with stand out performances from some of the best actors in Hollywood like Alan Tudyk, Jemaine Clement, Temuera Morrison, and Nicole Scherzinger. All of it came together beautiful with some of the best artistic style I’ve seen from ANY animation studio and a truly amazing soundtrack from Lin-Manuel Miranda. It was truly magical.
Disney’s Moana Under the Stars Meet Up Met All Expectations
I was so excited and honored to have been a part of Disney’s Moana Under the Stars Meet Up. Wonderful movie, wonderful night. Between the dinner, the movie, and the view of the new Polynesian Villa & Bungalows, I could not have asked for a more magical experience. That’s why I encourage all of you to see Disney’s Moana today and be sure to stay at the Polynesian Villa & Bungalows on your next Disney vacation. You can’t go wrong on either front.
